Got questions? We’ve got you. From how to book and what to expect, to cleaning, sizing, and returns—this is where you’ll find all the need-to-knows before your event.

How does hiring work?

Once you’ve found the perfect outfit, select your size and event date, then book your hire. We’ll ship your garment via Express Post, and it will arrive a few days before your event.

After wearing it, simply place it in the prepaid return satchel provided and lodge it at Australia Post by 4pm the next business day. We take care of all the cleaning!

How long is the hire period?

We offer 4 day and 8 day hire periods. You simply have to select the timeframe you want, and the dates around your event to allow yourself enough time to receive the item and post it back the day after your event. We track all returns via Australia Post to keep it simple for you.

What if my outfit doesn’t fit?

No stress — we’ve all been there! If your garment doesn’t fit, please email us at hello@thehireedit.com.au within 24 hours of delivery.

As long as the item is unworn and posted back the same day, we’ll issue a store credit (minus shipping) for a future hire.

Can I cancel my hire?

If you cancel 7 or more days before your hire start date, you’ll receive a credit note valid for 12 months.

Cancellations made within 7 days of your hire date are non-refundable, as your booking slot is reserved exclusively for you.

What happens if my parcel is delayed?

All orders are sent via Express Post with tracking. While delays are rare, The Hire Edit can’t take responsibility for postal delays caused by Australia Post.

If your parcel doesn’t arrive in time for your event, please contact us — we’ll issue a store credit for your hire.

What if I damage the dress?

We understand light wear happens. If there’s minor damage or marks, we’ll do our best to repair or clean it at no cost.

However, for significant damage, stains or loss, you’ll be charged for repair or replacement costs (up to full RRP).

Do I need to clean the item before returning?

No — please don’t wash, dry clean, or spot clean your hire. We professionally clean all garments after every wear.

Can I try on before hiring?

Yes! We offer try-on appointments at our studio:
5/6 Morris Street, West End QLD

Try-ons are by booking only ($15 fee), fully redeemable off your hire. If you choose not to hire, the fee is non-refundable.

When will my order be shipped?

We ship Monday to Thursday via Express Post. Weekend hires are usually dispatched early in the week to ensure on-time arrival.

What if I return my hire late?

If your garment is lodged late, a $30 per day late fee applies. If not returned within 7 days, you may be charged the full retail value of the item.

Can I collect or return my hire inperson?

Absolutely! If you’re local to Townsville, you can collect and return from our studio at 5/6 Morris Street, West End.

We’ll confirm your collection details once your booking is placed.

Do you offer store credit or refunds?

Refunds are only issued if The Hire Edit is unable to supply your garment.

All other approved returns are issued as store credit valid for 12 months.

Deposits & Charges

What am I charged?

To secure your hire booking, a $0.99 authorisation fee will be temporarily placed on your card. This confirms your order and securely stores your payment details.

This authorisation allows us to charge additional fees if the garment is damaged beyond normal wear or not returned.

When will I be charged an additional amount

All our garments come with accidental damage coverage for minor issues like missing buttons or broken zippers.

If your hire is returned in a condition that requires extra cleaning, repair, or replacement, you may be charged accordingly.

In the event your item is lost or significantly damaged, your card will be charged the full retail replacement value using the payment details saved at checkout.

What happens if I don’t pay the security deposit?

If the deposit is not paid within 12 hours of booking, we will notify you and may cancel your order.

Can I hire without paying the security deposit?

For security reasons and to confirm your booking, we cannot dispatch any orders without receiving the security deposit first.
